Ixoras, also known as Jungle Geraniums, are little tropical shrubs that reward you with stunning clusters of blooms while requiring very little maintenance. The pink and white blooms are not the only eye-catching feature of this plant; the leaves also show lovely variegations. These resilient plants thrive in full light and require very little area to develop, making them ideal for balcony gardening. The blossoms are a compact ball-like cluster of small blooms whose smell attracts hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees.

Plant Care

Fertilizer/ feed for the plant: From spring to winter, feed every two weeks with a balanced fertiliser. Feed once every 6 weeks during the winter. The Ixora prefers full sun and a well-ventilated environment.

Repotting :
Ixora is a low-maintenance plant that should only be repotted when it outgrows its present container. Use a well-draining potting soil and prune on a regular basis. Ixora stem cuttings can be used to propagate the plant. Remove the lowermost leaves from a 4 to 5 inch long cutting, dip the cut edge in rooting hormone, and root in water for 3-4 weeks.

Typical issues

1. What is causing my ixora plant to shed its leaves?

Ixoras are tropical plants that are sensitive to chilly breezes. If the plant is exposed to a cold draught, it will shed its leaves. Place the plant in a warm, draft-free location.

2. What is the cause of the black deposits on my ixora?

If there isn’t enough ventilation, Ixoras might develop black sooty mould fungus. Spray your plant with neem oil after cleaning it under high pressure. Then, set it in a well-ventilated area with direct sunlight.

3. Why are there so few flowers on my plant?

From spring until fall, fertilise your plants once every two weeks and keep the soil wet but not waterlogged. Also, trim your plants to encourage branching and flowering.

Design and Decoration

Light Requirements: In order to blossom, Ixora prefers strong direct light for the most of the day. Place it on your balconies or in sunny areas of your home, such as windowsills.

Locations: A well-ventilated spot with full sun is ideal for Ixora. Ixora is a beautiful blooming shrub that attracts hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees with its blossoms. It is ideal for both container gardening and hedging. With correct trimming, the plant may produce a large number of blooming heads and reward you with beautiful, fragrant blooms throughout the majority of the year.

Styling/decor tip : Plant it in beautiful ceramic pots and proudly show it on your windowsill or balcony garden.
