Hygrophila Serphyllum [Tc], a fast-growing carpet plant for high-tech and low-tech aquariums, is a new plant in the aquascaping hobby. This plant has 1 to 1.5 cm round light green leaves. This can also be grown in paludariums, terrariums, and photospheres. Under good light, CO2, and an ample supply of nutrients, this is an easy faster grower and compact growth habit. With the right conditions, the plant will form a carpet in your aquarium and will grow quite tall under lower lighting. A rich substrate is advantageous; micronutrient fertilisation, particularly iron, should be applied on a regular basis for healthy growth. Emersed culture is also possible in moist, rich soil with adequate light.

Is hygrophila a plant? Is Hygrophila serpyllum a fast-growing plant?
Hygrophila serpyllum grows quickly, so if you plant enough of it in the aquarium, it should be able to keep up with the rate of fish feeding. The type of fish you select is also important.

Where can you find Hygrophila Serphyllum [Tc]?
Hygrophila Pinnatifida is a one-of-a-kind plant native to India. The leaves can be brown, purple, red, green, or yellow depending on the conditions in which they are kept. This plant thrives in high-intensity lighting with Co2 and fertilisation.

Is CO2 required by Hygrophila Serphyllum [Tc]?
It grows at a similar rate to most other Hygrophila species, but because of its low position in the aquarium, light levels are usually lower, making growth slower. Because it belongs to the medium category, it usually requires CO2 injection and moderate to strong lighting to thrive.

Can Hygrophila Serphyllum [Tc] grow in the absence of a substrate?
Hygrophila Serphyllum is a popular epiphyte in aquascaping circles because it grows well without substrate – it attaches easily to rocks and wood, and its reddish coloration and unique leaf shape serve as a good contrast against green plants.
