The Calathea Ornata, often known as the Calathea Pinstripe, is well-known for its distinctive leaves and tropical beauty. It is not difficult to grasp its expanding requirements, despite its temperament. This pet-friendly plant has gorgeous glossy dark green foliage with pink and white stripes that nearly appear hand painted!
Plant Care
Fertilizer/ feed for the plant: Feed your Calathea a nitrogen-rich fertiliser every three weeks during the summer. Feed the fertiliser once a month during the winter.
Repotting : When your Calathea outgrows its present pot, repot it once a year. Select a pot that is one size larger than the previous one. Calatheas can be transmitted by division. Wait until your Calathea has reached a mature size before splitting it. Calathea can also be propagated by stem cuttings.
Typical issues
1. Why the leaves of Calathea are turning brown.
Both under-watering and over-fertilization can cause leaf browning. If this problem happens, water your plant less regularly and apply less fertiliser.
2. Why are the leaves on my Calathea curling?
Calathea leaves curl due to a lack of moisture. To avoid this, make sure you are adequately watering your plant. You may sprinkle your Calathea many times each week as well.
3. Why are fresh Calathea leaves lighter in colour than older ones?
If your Calathea’s young leaves are lighter green than the old ones, this indicates a lack of nitrogen or iron. Use a nitrogen and iron-rich fertiliser and increase the frequency with which the fertiliser is fed.
Design and Decoration
Light Requirements: Calatheas prefers direct, bright sunshine. Always keep your Calathea away from direct sunshine. Calatheas are known to be erratic in their behaviour. However, with the correct quantity of water and sunlight, Calatheas may be grown successfully inside.
Location : Keep your Calathea near a window or on a shaded balcony where it will receive enough indirect light. The Calathea works well in offices, lobbies, cubicles, and meeting spaces.
Style/decor tip: A single Calathea may completely transform the style of your house. It provides texture and colour to your plant clusters and d?cor. You may also arrange several Calatheas species together to create a nice green corner that is pleasing to the sight. For the Calathea, we propose a lighter monochromatic planter or our gold metallic planter.
