Micranthemum micranthimoids is a graceful plant from North America with small, arched leaves that resemble Egeria. It has a distinctive trailing growth pattern in bright light, so it can be used as a foreground plant (stems from 10-20 cm tall, 2-3 cm wide). With its small, light-green leaves, a group of Hemianthus micranthemoides is very attractive. The plant forms a compact cushion in terrariums. Micranthemum micranthemoides was the previous name for this plant.

Pearl weed is so named because of the accumulation of oxygen pearls at the tips of the leaves. The submerged leaves are pale yellow, narrow, slightly arched, and arranged in opposite or whorls on the stem. The leaves that grow above the water are round and bright green in colour. This graceful plant can be placed in the foreground, midground (preferable), or background. This plant creeps when exposed to direct sunlight. However, consistent water parameters are required for its long-term growth. For its luxurious growth, good ferritization, CO2 rich water, light, and stable pH by maintaining alkalinity around 3dKH are required.

Micranthemoides Hemianthus (common name: baby tears, pearlgrass)

Overview: This aquarium plant is native to Florida in North America and is a low-maintenance aquatic plant known for its versatility in aquascaping. They make an excellent foreground aquatic plant when planted alone, and when planted in groups after repeated pruning, they make an excellent carpet, midground, and foreground plant in aquariums. It grows well in wet depressions and standing water, and its shoots can grow in both hard and soft water.

Hard versus soft plant: Hard plant.

This lovely plant has arched small leaves that look like miniature versions of Egeria leaves. The stems are 10 to 20 cm tall and 2 to 3 cm wide.

It grows best in water temperatures ranging from 20 to 28 degrees Celsius.

Lighting conditions: Although Hemianthus micranthemoides prefers low lighting, it can grow in both high and low lighting conditions. While lower lighting levels promote loose upward growth, Hemianthus micranthemoides grows stunted and compactly.

Hemianthus micranthemoides thrives in pH levels between 6 and 7 nk.

Hemianthus micranthemoides is a versatile plant that can be used in aquascaping. They work well as aquarium plants in the midground and foreground. It forms a compact cushion in terrariums.
