Microsorum pteropus ‘Windelov’is a patented Microsorum pteropus variety named after Tropica’s founder, Holger Windelv. It is one of the most beautiful aquarium plants due to its finely branched leaf tips. Microsorum grows to be 15-20 cm tall and wide. A hardy and simple plant suitable for both beginners and experienced gardeners. Planting it on a stone or tree root yields the best results. The horizontal rhizome must not be covered if planted at the bottom. Herbivorous fish do not consume this plant.
Tropica’s Java Fern Windelov is a popular variant of the Java Fern. They can grow in low light and a variety of water conditions. When grown out, the end of the leaves are split into three thin leaves, giving it a beautiful bushy appearance. Using thread or glue, Java Fern species can be attached directly to driftwood, rocks, or any aquarium decoration. If the rhizomes are not kept above the substrate, the plant will rot. Propagation is simple; simply cut or pull apart rhizomes to be replanted. The Java Fern is a type of epiphytic aquarium plant. This means it can thrive when attached to aquascaping hardscape such as driftwood and stones. The Java Fern will spread via its leaves. Dots on the underside of its leaves are normal and do not indicate a problem.
They are hardy, low-maintenance rhizome plants that make excellent beginner plants. There is no special care required; simply tie it to a driftwood/rock or wedge it between any hardscape. Fern’s leaves are lacy. Growing slowly at first, but once established, expect rapid growth and multiple plantlets.
